What’s Your Affirmation?

Today is a day to be grateful. It's also a day to plan ahead and remember the reasons behind your work goals.

Thanksgiving is as good a time as any to ask yourself, “What are my goals?” Things have drastically changed over the past year, and perhaps your priorities and goals have changed and shifted as well.

what is your affirmation

When I first took a job selling for someone else, it was 1983. I was introduced to my new sales manager and he handed me a copy of Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich as well as a goals sheet. He said, “I want this filled out and given back to me by Monday.”

I looked at the sheet and it was a bit intimidating.  At the top it said, “What is your affirmation?” followed by a blank.

My first reaction was to look at my sales manager and think, “Who the heck are you? This is my personal business.” However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized what he was doing. It wasn’t only about an “affirmation.” He wanted to see my quantitative goals for 30 days, 60 days, and 90 days. I should say, he wanted me to see my quantitative goals! Moreover, he had me create a vision board and discuss how all six areas of my life personal, financial, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social were going to be advanced by working with him.

With that in mind, if you think along the same lines, what would your affirmation and goals be for 2021? I challenge you to take the time to sit down over this holiday weekend and re-evaluate where you are and think about where you want to be in 2021.
