Company culture can have a major impact on employee morale. Savvy business owners and managers realize this, and they work hard to ensure that employees are getting sufficient salaries, benefits, bonuses, and other perks.

There’s no doubt that these attributes boost workplace satisfaction; however, satisfaction does not always lead to productivity. According to an article published this week on the HBR blog, in order to truly boost productivity across the board, companies should focus on “positive and virtuous practices.” These include things like kindness, compassion, support, respect, gratitude, trust, and integrity. The article suggests that these are key to increasing positive emotions, buffering against negative events, reducing stress, and attracting (and retaining) loyal employees – all of which, of course, improve productivity.
