Save Some for Later

Learn how to avoid burnout by leaving yourself wanting more.

Achieving success requires a lot of hard work, and as efficiency sales professionals, we often push ourselves to the limit (or past it!). While it may seem that working around the clock is the only way to get everything done, it’s not always beneficial from a productivity standpoint.

An article published this week on the LifeHacker blog suggests that we “leave ourselves wanting more.” In other words, before we reach the point of frustration and exhaustion, we should stop what we’re doing and pick it back up later. I like the exercise analogy the author uses: If you work out to the point of exhaustion, you’re going to associate exercise with that feeling (rather than the positive feelings that come with exercise in moderation). The next time you think about working out, you’ll be less likely to do it because of the way it made you feel the previous time. You can apply this same logic to your work. Avoid burnout by always leaving yourself wanting more.
