Half-Day Productivity

Learn how to boost productivity by planning for a half-day.

Halfday

Think back to the last time you took a vacation. Assuming your vacation was relaxed and work-free, you probably spent the day or two prior to your trip wrapping up all of your to-do items so that you could enjoy a stress-free break. Were you extra productive during those last days? Chances are, you were. Why? Because you had no choice but to be productive! And in order to accomplish all of your pre-vacation goals, you probably had to prioritize your to-do list to tackle the most important and time-sensitive items.

What if you were able to maintain that focused and prioritized productivity year-round? According to an article published this week on the Entrepreneur blog, one way to accomplish this (without the pre-vacation stress) is to make “tomorrow’s plan” the day before, with the assumption that you are only going to be working a half-day. Given the time constraints, you are forced to think about what is most important on your to-do list. Then, use this prioritized list as your morning to-do list and avoid taking care of the less pressing tasks until you’ve completed the list.
